Besan Methi

Besan Methi is a rajasthani dry curry made with gram flour(besan) and fenugreek seeds(dana methi).

Ingredients

    ¼ cup dana methi (dry fenugreek seeds)
  • Image
    2 tbsp besan (gram flour)
  • Image
    1 tbsp oil
  • Image
    A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • Image
    1/4 tsp – Turmeric
  • Image
    1 pinch – Asafoetida
  • Image
    1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • Image
    ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • Image
    1 tsp coriander powder
  • Image
    1 amchur powder
  • Image
    Salt to taste

Method

  • Image
    Wash and soak fenugreek (methi) seeds in water for 15-20 minutes.
  • Image
    Take one boil of soaked Dana Methi in water and cover the lid and keep aside.
  • Image
    Drain water from it and spread boiled Dana Methi on plate.
  • Image
    Sprinkle besan(gram flour), turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, amchur powder and salt. Mix well.

    Heat oil in a pan, add asafoetida (hing) and above mixture. Saute for few minutes and turn off the flame.

    Serve warm or cold.

  • Image
    Boil soaked dana methi  in water till tender (Make sure not to overcook methi seeds while boiling it becomes bitter if overcooked).

    Make sure Dana Methi is coated well with Besan and spices while mixing.
