Moong Dal Ki Chaat

A healthy and tasty, nutritious and flavourful snack indeed. Pomegranate and raw mangoes perk up this colourful chaat.

Ingredients

    1/2 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)

    Salt to taste
  • Image
    1/2 cup grated carrot
  • Image
    1/2 cup pomegranate (anar)
  • Image
    1/2 cup chopped spring onions (whites and greens)
  • Image
    1/4 cup chopped raw mangoes
  • Image
    2 tbsp finely chopped mint leaves
  • Image
    2 tbsp finely chopped coriander
  • Image
    2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
  • Image
    1 tsp chaat masala
  • Image
    4 tsp lemon juice

Method

  • Image
    Clean, wash and soak the moong dal in enough water for ½ hour and drain well.
  • Image
    Combine 3 cups of water, moong dal and salt in a deep non-stick pan and cook it on a medium flame till it is half done, while stirring occasionally. Ensure that each grain of the dal is separate.
  • Image
    Strain the dal using a strainer and keep aside to cool for 10 minutes.

    Combine all the ingredients, including the moong dal, in a large bowl and toss well.
  • Image
    Serve immediately.
